National Tibetan Plateau / Third Pole Environment Data Center
Ph.D., researcher of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the National Tibetan Plateau Scientific Data Center, core backbone of the Tibetan Plateau Earth Science Excellence Innovation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He graduated from the Department of Geomarine Sciences of Nanjing University in 1992 and received his Ph.D. degree from the Lanzhou Institute of Glaciology and Permafrost of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. He has made innovative scientific research achievements in watershed integration research, land surface data assimilation, cryospheric remote sensing and information system research, including leading the implementation of the "Heihe Remote Sensing Experiment" (2007-2017), which has been evaluated by international peers as "world-class observation" and "China's most abundant hydrological remote sensing experiment", and has developed China's large-scale land surface data assimilation system and high-resolution watershed-scale land surface hydrological data assimilation system, and has achieved leading results in nonlinear filtering algorithm and multi-source remote sensing data assimilation. He has won the first prize of Gansu Provincial Natural Science Award, the first prize of Gansu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Surveying and Mapping, and the Wang Kuancheng Western Scholar Outstanding Contribution Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published more than 500 academic papers (330+ SCI citations), with a total citation of 26,000+ papers (14,000+ SCI citations). He has served as a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the World Climate Research Programme/Global Energy and Water Exchange Project (WCRP/GEWEX), is currently a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Global Water Futures Research Programme, the Secretary-General of the Asian Region of the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme Global Information Network on Water and Development in Arid Zones (UNESCO IHP G-WADI), and the Vice-Chairman of the GEWEX China Committee. He is an associate editor of Journal of Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing Technology and Application, and an editorial board member of Advances in Earth Science, Atmospheric Sciences, and Journal of Geo-Information Science. At present, he is presiding over the "Earth Big Data Science Project" project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Key R&D Program project "Development of Key Parameter Monitoring Equipment for Ecosystem and Demonstration of Ecological Internet of Things".
